Evolution Of Android- 'Android Versions'

Android phones are the most widely used all over the world. The nice and cool features we today in our phones have a history of evolution. Android operating system was developed in 2003. Android was bought by Google in 2005. The first version 1.0 was launched in 2008, which had features like a web browser, email services, youtube and google apps. A view of android 1.0:

In subsequent years google introduced new versions after desserts. Version 1.5 was named cupcake this brought many new features like recording videos, copy and paste from the browser, auto-rotation etc. (April 2009)
Next was Donut version 1.6 which had features like quick web search, search option for contacts, files etc. from the home screen. Also, many apps could be downloaded on devices having this version. (Sept. 2009)
Major changes were introduced through the Eclair version 2.0 of android. The devices having this version, had text-to-speech support, ability to play videos and screen lock. Android phones were now becoming more compatible with Apple phones. (Oct. 2009)
Then came version 2.2 Froyo which provided options for wifi and hotspot, setting alarms, password for lock screen and better-organised view for apps.(May 2010)
Androids we use now have many more features than those earlier. The later versions will be explained in next blog. Stay tuned.
