Metaverse is a Greek term that means beyond. This is a concept of virtual reality. Facebook aims that the future of mobile data will be virtual reality. This concept is of an online world where people can engage with each other from distant places, they can work together, do gaming and even interact from a world of metaverse to our world.
The users need to wear the headset and other special pieces of equipment in order to enter virtual reality. They will be able to feel the objects they touch and also view things around them in a 3-dimensional view. They will feel like they are talking physically when they speak to a hologram of a person. They will be able to do gaming inside the world in a very fine immersive view. You can also customize your clothes, your looks etc. It also allows users to take on virtual tours. Moreover, they can get connected to our actual world and can also get things displayed as holograms from it.
Seems like a dream world! but we are very far from achieving a world like that. Facebook has said that they will have a type of basic model for metaverse in 2030. The initial model would cost higher as said by the CEO of Facebook. This is a start for the path of Metaverse, it will take on several years until fully developed. Many more companies are also working towards metaverse.
