You must have listened to music with your wireless earphones or have transferred files through Bluetooth, but, have you ever wondered how the bluetooth works? Basically, Bluetooth is a wireless technology that enables us to pair two or more devices. Just like Wi-Fi it uses radio wave technology to transmit data. You can get more about Wi-Fi here.

When Bluetooth-enabled devices are close enough, they connect with each other through a tiny computer chip inside them that emits the special Bluetooth radio waves. Then, the communication between the two Bluetooth devices happens over a short-range network called a piconet. This piconet is a network of Bluetooth connected devices. Piconets are established automatically. So once you have a device, like your wireless earphones in range of the piconet, it will automatically connect.
Bluetooth devices have different frequencies. They pick a random and try to connect a device with it. Bluetooth can change numerous frequencies in one second. If a frequency is already taken by the nearby devices, they pick another frequency. Once the devices get connected they will remember each other unless you tell them to forget. That's why your phone automatically connects every time you get in the car, as the two devices know each other.
