What Is A QR Code? How Does It Works ? Why It Is Used?

In the previous blog I had given information about Barcodes. Barcodes are helpful but there use is limited. If a Barcode gets damaged, then it can't be read by the scanners, moreover the data in barcode can be stored only in the form of numbers. So to find a solution to these problems QR Codes were made.

QR Code stands for Quick Response Code. It was made in 1944 by a Japanese Company to allow high speed scanning, as Barcodes can be scanned only by scanners but QR codes can be scanned by mobile phones. QR codes may look like a random mixture of black squares over a white background, but it is this structure that essentially allows them to store the information and be decoded.

What do the black squares represent?
A simple answer to this is data. A QR Code has many parts that represent the size, alignment and data stored in it.

Why Are QR Codes Used?

You might be thinking if we need to scan a QR code and then see the data in it, why do we use them?
This is because QR Codes convert an offline encrypted thing into an online decoded thing.

They can be used to store a link, do payment, share documents and even it can make a device get connected to your wi-fi! They are used for official purposes for sharing Visiting cards, sending emails, contacts etc.

QR Codes can be generated by the help of many websites or apps.

So that is it for today. Please stay tuned for next blog. Comment down if you found it useful.
